About

I’m a 20+ year veteran of teaching!  My experience has led me to teach students in rural to urban schools and loved every minute!  From teaching kids to teaching adults to mentoring teachers (and some administrators), it is a blessing to help move learning forward! I love my career!

I began my education after I raised my girls.  Before that, I worked at home as a medical transcriptionist because I love  language. But working your own business can be feast or famine.  In famine weeks I decided to substitute teach.  I was hooked! I fell in love with teaching!  I began my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and continued with certification into Educational Leadership.

My husband, Chris, and I have 2 gorgeous daughters who have given us 4 beautiful grandchildren! (Five in February!)  Chris and I live in Indiana with our 2 cats, Kaluah and Tigger.  They are fun kitties!

Testimonial:

Lisa works with LA Coach as the Director of Operations and Consultant.  She coaches newly licensed and seasoned teachers, confidentially, targeting early childhood educators who are hungry for best practices to move their students forward in reading readiness.  She is a wiz at her job and the go to person in her field!

My Mission:

To help teachers improve their craft, be more effective, implement new skills and see their students learn more.

My Vision for All of Us:

To build bridges through literacy (reading, language arts) to combat the influx of illiteracy that is plaguing our school systems.

According to a study conducted in late April 2015 by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Institute of Literacy, 32 million adults in the U.S. can’t read. That’s 14 percent of the population. 21 percent of adults in the U.S. read below a 5th grade level, and 19 percent of high school graduates can’t read.

According to the Department of Justice, “The link between academic failure and delinquency, violence, and crime is welded to reading failure.”

We will work together to help defeat the monster of illiteracy by discovering new tools and utilizing the existing talents that you possess. Together we will make changes, not only in your life as a teacher, but also in the lives of the students that you teach.
